nice conversion Ross, it does look well siting in there

are you going to do anything to make the VVT operate automatically, as I know Ade had it just on an on/off switch, would be much better using a shift light output , that you could set to 2500/3000rpm

The WEBCON gold kit has the shift light output, you could wire that into the VVT solenoid, its a switchable earth , and run it through a 4 pin relay to protect the ECU

ive removed the VVT now from my car and now have fitted Newman PH4 cams to both inlet and exhaust sides

Ive a fancy ported and polished ST170 head which has had the end caps modified to remove the V V T pulley and inlet cam, so i can run blacktop zetec cams, very fancy and working a treat

If Simon is going to do the wiring for you, he NEEDS to run it through a relay otherwise it will damage the ECU, got this advise from WEBCON when i did it with mine

Well she fired up last night i'm pleased to say, only got throttle linkage to fit and water hoses and good to go!

Oh and the wiring to tidy up and route neatly - not even off the road for a week, chuffed wi that

Wee update, car is up and running and back on the road but still could do with a check over as think the bodies may need balanced etc - at idle and low revs its still a bit spluttery which I believe isn't right, should behave just like a fuel injection car ie nice and smooth. When its opened up though its an animal and actually hurts your ears :lol:

Thought i'd destroyed the box last week after taking a mate out but after me and Neil towed it home, was delighted to find out it was only a shaft that had failed. Quick swap for one of my many spares and back on the road.

I also bought another well specced mk4 for spares so that has donated Koni adjustables for the Bonus, uprated RS Turbo brakes and other bits including a better interior etc. Will be up at Knockhill on the 26th along with a couple of mate's 2.0 mk4's.

Lookin forward to seeing how she does at Crail too 8-)

Shouldn't need balanced or anything, plug and play system that doesn't go out of tune like carbs do.
If its not smooth something will need replaced.... plug, lead or something else (hopefully not nasty). Just have to find out what!

it may be that you have the V V T solenoid energised , and the cam timing has advanced to its full advanced position, that would cause it to be very very lumpy on tickover, you could even disconnect the solenoid at the plug just to se if theres a change in how it ticksover

Well logically either something's disturbed, not hooked up right, or you need to do a compression test to check for an engine fault.

Can't see how the actual engine could have any issues though given that I'm sure it wouldn't have been run in between it being in the Estate than in your car..... odd one :?

yeah, got a feeling its something fairly straightforward! Need to get it booked in but not had the time.

On another note, my mates Skyline didnt get past me too easily, and its got a few mods so was amazed and delighted at same time!
