Fiesta track car winter freshen up( GO FASTER mods coming)

Postby DALSY » Tue Nov 18, 2008 11:15 pm

Decided to give the Fiesta a wee freshen up over the winter months

Its been neglected a wee bit lately, and become a little bit unreliable, so time to do some work to it

Engine and gearbox out of the car , in preperation for the new engine

this is the new engine on the engine stand in preperation for its build up

ST170 engine with my lightened flywheel, and AP 4 paddle clutch, and ported head with the stage 2 highlift cams, and Delorto 45 carbs, and Weber 3D engine management with 7300 rpm limiter, oil cooler and Baliley breather etc........

ill update the thread as I go along, plenty mods coming along including suspension and brakes, and a wee tidy up of the paintwork under th ebonnet

Only issue may be the water pump, but thats in hand .... hopefully ;) rest of its no problem really. wont be using the ST head and the V V T and my sump will bolt onto the block so I can fit the starter at the front of the block

Just need to modify my engine mounting a little bit to pick up the new pitch for the block, but no probs

Hope to see maybe over 200 bhp with my carbs, head and cams, and management all going well, just need to wait and see. Main issue is to make the car more reliable, and with teh new hubs/drivesahfts,willwood brakes and suspension set up, should achieve that, thats been the achilies heel of the car lately... constantly destroying wheel bearings

My new lightweight calipers, with 280mm discs, Ive now got them all cleaned up and painted,

looks awesome Dalsy 8-) cannae beat a set of carbs lol! :D do the st170 engines run higher compression than the silvertop engine?

just thought I could pass on a bit of useless info but the cvh starter will fit with the black-top(same as st170) sump if u wanted to retain it... just needs a few of the cast in webs at the bottom corner blending back a little :)
